The competition to design a plastic waste management app for the tourism industry was launched and organized within the entire system of the Vietnam Tourism Association, including the Tourism Associations of provinces and cities, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association, the Trade Union Culture and Tourism Association, and units under the Vietnam Tourism Association.

The competition aims to achieve three main objectives: Enhancing awareness of plastic waste at all levels, sectors, businesses, residents, and tourists; Proposing solutions and initiatives to minimize plastic waste in tourism activities, thereby establishing the “Criteria for recognizing plastic-free tourism businesses” for pilot application and issuance; Developing detailed action plans within the industry, researching and designing apps for plastic waste management in the tourism industry.

Mr. Vu The Binh, President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, presented the award to Ms. Phan Thi Thu Ngan, head of the public relations department, who represents GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM Joint Stock Company.

With meticulous investment in research and proposal, the application developed by GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM aims to support communication on reducing plastic waste (policies, laws on plastic waste management in tourism; guidance documents on reducing plastic waste in the tourism industry; studies, initiatives, programs on reducing plastic waste in the tourism industry). Thus, the application raises awareness of businesses, units, and individuals directly involved in the tourism industry.

In addition, the application also manages plastic waste in the area by providing a data reporting system on the implementation of waste collection and treatment in the area. It serves as a tool to gather information and recognize tourism businesses without plastic waste when applying the Criteria Set.

Furthermore, the waste management application also serves as a bridge to support businesses and individuals in accompanying, monitoring, and evaluating the progress of reducing plastic waste in the tourism industry.
