After 3 months of launch, the Final Round and Closing Ceremony of the Smart Hack 2016 competition, held on September 30, 2016, announced the winners of the 4 highest prizes, with the Special Prize belonging to the Edoo learning social network application developed by a group of students from the University of Engineering and Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Smart Hack 2016 was a mobile application programming contest for students, organized by GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM in collaboration with the University of Engineering and Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

In the Final Round, the Edoo learning social network application, developed by students from the University of Engineering and Technology – VNU Hanoi, demonstrated high practical value and usefulness for students, winning over the judges to claim the championship and the Special Prize worth 50 million VND.

The Edoo team excellently won the championship of Smart Hack 2016.

Coming right after, the First Prize worth 20 million VND went to the Remote2Roid team from FPT Polytechnic College (HCMC) with an application that allows users to synchronize, manage, and remotely control Android phones through a web browser on a computer.

The First Prize went to the Remote2Droid application.

The Excar application, from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, which allows users to post car information, verify accounts, and connect with buyers, won the Second Prize worth 15 million VND.

The Third Prize worth 10 million VND went to the Listen Together application – a mobile app that allows users to listen to music together with their friends even when thousands of kilometers apart.

Smart Hack 2016 was launched on June 29, 2016, to create a healthy and inspiring playground for IT-loving students nationwide, encouraging practical mobile software ideas on Android, iOS, or Windows Phone platforms.

After 3 months of implementation, with 3 rounds including idea submission, demo product, and voting, from over 80 successfully submitted applications, the organizers shortlisted 7 outstanding applications for the Final Round.

Smart Hack 2016 was highly appreciated by experts as a useful playground for IT start-ups in Vietnam, a place to affirm that young Vietnamese can confidently conquer the digital technology industry.

The 7 outstanding applications that entered the Final Round

1. Family Doctor: A mobile expert system that allows users to self-diagnose diseases through symptoms they provide. The app acts like a virtual assistant that can interact in natural language to collect more symptom data for accurate results. It also utilizes built-in phone sensors to collect breathing and heart rate data, provides health videos, related hospitals/doctors, and daily news.

2. Listen Together: A mobile app that allows users to listen to music with their friends even when they are thousands of kilometers apart, bringing people closer, increasing understanding, and reducing loneliness.

3. Remote2Droid: An app that allows users to synchronize, manage, and remotely control Android phones via a web browser on a computer, helping to locate, lock phones, turn ringtones on/off, erase data, capture thieves’ photos, and back up data before deletion.

4. Baba Real Estate Trading Support App: Provides transparency in real estate transactions by making sellers/brokers’ information public, suggesting personal Facebook (optional), integrating reporting of violations, and preventing fake information.

5. Excar: For car owners, the app allows posting car information, verifying accounts, and contacting buyers. For seekers, it allows searching, filtering, and posting requests when no suitable result is available.

6. Catty Me: Designed to motivate and track students’ daily learning. Features include planning study schedules, executing plans through activity blocks (“30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours…”), analyzing study progress, and suggesting future plans.

7. Edoo: A social learning network for the credit-based education model. Main functions: students can view schedules, post questions/notes, answer classmates’ questions, rate posts/answers, while lecturers can send notifications and create class events.
