AI-powered platform for high quality; Support for multiple characters, alphabets, and formats; Easy deployment and wide applicability are the outstanding features that help GMO-Z.com RUNSYSTEM’s SmartOCR win over demanding customers in Japan.
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology enables the conversion of image-based documents (scanner outputs, camera images, image-based PDFs, etc.) into editable documents (text files, Word files, etc.).
In the Industry 4.0 era, “digitizing the field” is a prerequisite for implementing other technology applications. With SmartOCR software, documents can be easily digitized to improve management efficiency and work performance across various industries.
SmartOCR has many outstanding features and improvements compared to other recognition software currently available:
AI-powered platform for high quality: Using Deep Learning, with automatic correction functions that enhance quality compared to traditional methods; Parallel processing to increase speed; Flexible preprocessing to further improve quality.
Support for multiple characters and formats: Supports Japanese, numbers, alphabets; Vietnamese handwriting recognition (coming soon); Equipped with a smart format management system to handle multiple formats easily for different business needs.
Easy deployment: Available in both Cloud SaaS and on-premise versions; Provides APIs and CSV for simple integration with existing systems; No data storage, encrypted data transmission via API for enhanced security.
Wide applicability: Can be applied across all fields such as manufacturing, sales, logistics, identity verification, document management & digitization, etc.; Suitable for performance improvement and data digitization needs, serving as a stepping stone for Industry 4.0 implementation.
OCR software has existed for quite some time, but most of them only use traditional algorithms, mainly relying on analyzing printed characters for recognition. Therefore, they cannot be used to recognize handwriting. Moreover, with previous technology, preprocessing to detect the recognition area (e.g., identifying the ID card section in an image) was not accurate.
By leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) as its core technology, SmartOCR has solved challenges that old technologies and other solutions could not, achieving over 95% accuracy in recognizing both printed and handwritten text, as well as in the preprocessing stage of detecting areas to be recognized.
In the Japanese market, there are two similar products, but both are mostly Cloud-based. SmartOCR differentiates itself by supporting both Cloud for customers seeking cost reduction and on-premise installation for customers requiring higher security (such as banks, financial companies, etc.). In practice, most customers choose the on-premise version for enhanced security.
Currently, the product is well received by Japanese customers with positive feedback. Notable applications include reading product weights from electronic scales; extracting hospital names from invoices; reading information from driver’s licenses to verify name, date of birth, and address; reading bank transfer request forms; reading ID cards for identity verification—reducing time, manpower, and optimizing costs.
Sharing about future product development plans, Mr. Nguyen Tan Minh – Deputy Director of the company emphasized: “Alongside continued investment, research, and development to differentiate the product from others, the company will also collaborate with partners to expand the market in Japan. By 2019, the solution is expected to be deployed in the Vietnamese market.” Learn more about SmartOCR at https://runsystem.net/vi/smart-ocr/
